What's the best way to warm up on a raw, downright cold day? Yep, we all have our favorite ways to deal with "Chicago in Winter" weather when it strikes our region. For the 19 teams fishing the 1st tournament of the 2010 XBS-Harris division, none had a better way to get that "warm and fuzzy" feeling than the team of Bobby Russell Sr and Allen Dickson. Bringing a tournament-best limit (one of only 2 on the day)of 12.07 lbs, along with the big fish (4.73 lbs.)to the scales, they probably didn't "warm up" comfortably until all the teams weighed their catch. For Robert Crosnoe and Trevor Fizgerald, weighing in the only other 5 fish limit was a small consolation. Having their 11.09 lbs hold on for 2nd place "warmed" them considerably however! Toby and Herman Young managed 4 fish for 8.74 lbs, giving them a "blanket of sorts with their 3rd place finish.
One of the hardest things to do, is to stay focused during less than ideal conditions. For tournament fishermen, "less than ideal" can mean a lot of things. Cold weather is hard on Florida fish and can be equally trying on us too. Congratulations to all the teams in all the divisions, fishing through one of the most extended chilly weather patterns many of us have seen...especially from the deck of a bass boat! The weather looks to be improving and many of you can look back to the start of the 2010 season and have a whole new appreciation for those guys in our Alabama divisions!
See you at the next event! |
